What is Quoting?

The Quoting module is the industry’s most comprehensive commercial lines comparative rater. Upload your documents and get quotes across multiple carriers in minutes with zero manual data entry - Mulligan handles the entire workflow automatically.

Supported Lines of Business

Mulligan integrates with 30+ carriers across:
  • Commercial Auto - Business vehicle coverage
  • BOP (Business Owners’ Policy) - Combined property and liability
  • WC (Workers’ Compensation) - Employee injury coverage
  • GL (General Liability) - Business liability protection
  • Trucking - Commercial trucking insurance
  • Professional Liability - E&O and professional coverage
Enterprise clients can request additional carriers to be prioritized for integration.

How to Generate Quotes

Upload Any Document

  1. Navigate to Quoting from the sidebar
  2. Select LOB (Line of Business):
    • Commercial Auto
    • BOP (Business Owners’ Policy)
    • WC (Workers’ Compensation)
    • GL (General Liability)
    • Trucking
    • Professional Liability
  3. Select Insurance Carrier for this LOB
  4. Upload documents - ACORDs, intake forms, supplementals, or previous policies
  5. Provide Customer Name
  6. Click “Parse Documents” and wait for AI to extract data
  7. Verify how the information was mapped to carrier form fields
  8. Click “Start Quote”

AI Scans & Quotes

Mulligan automatically processes your quote:
  • Created - Quote request has been created
  • Queued - Waiting to start processing
  • Running - AI is filling out carrier forms automatically
  • Completed - Quote successfully generated
You can navigate away while quotes generate in parallel. Check the Dashboard’s Recent Activity to monitor progress.

Review & Bind

Once completed, review quotes in the carrier portal:
  • View premium amounts and coverage details
  • Download quote PDFs directly
  • Bind and pay through the carrier portal
  • Compare quotes across multiple carriers

Understanding Quote Statuses

AI is automatically filling out the carrier form. This typically takes 3-10 minutes depending on form complexity.
Quote successfully generated. Review premium, coverage details, and binding options in the carrier portal. You can download the quote PDF.
Carrier declined to quote based on risk appetite or underwriting guidelines. Check the decline reason and try a different carrier.
Technical error occurred during quote generation. This could be due to carrier website changes, missing required information, or connectivity issues. Contact support if failures persist.

Viewing Your Quotes

The quote list displays all your quote requests with key details:

Quote Card Information

Each quote shows:
  • Customer name - Who the quote is for
  • Carrier - Which insurance company
  • Premium - Quote amount (displayed when completed)
  • Status - Current state (Running, Completed, Declined, Failed)
  • Created date - When the quote was requested
  • LOB - Line of business

Tips for Successful Quoting

The more complete your uploaded documents, the better.
After document parsing, review how information was mapped to carrier fields. Correct any errors before starting the quote.
Request quotes from multiple carriers at once to save time. Mulligan processes them in parallel.
Not all carriers quote all risks. Check carrier guidelines to avoid declined quotes and wasted credits.
Use clear filenames and organize documents by client and LOB for easier retrieval and reuse.

Common Issues and Solutions

The carrier has declined to quote based on their underwriting guidelines. Common reasons:
  • Risk outside carrier’s appetite
  • Missing required information
  • Loss history exceeds thresholds
  • Business type not covered
Solution: Review the decline reason, address any issues, and try a different carrier.
Technical errors can occur due to:
  • Carrier website changes
  • Missing critical form fields
  • Connectivity issues
Solution:
  1. Review your uploaded documents for completeness
  2. Retry the quote
  3. If failures persist, contact support with the quote ID
Most quotes complete in 5-15 minutes. Longer processing times may indicate:
  • Complex risk requiring extensive form filling
  • Carrier website slowness
  • Additional information required
Solution: Check the Recent Activity on your Dashboard. If status remains “Running” for 30+ minutes, contact support.

Credit Usage

Quote generation consumes credits based on:
  • Carrier selected
  • Line of business
  • Form complexity
Credits are only consumed when the quote reaches a final state (completed, failed, or declined). Quotes that are terminated mid-process do not consume credits.

What Happens After Quoting?

Once you have quotes:
  1. Review in carrier portal - View premiums, coverage, and terms across all quotes
  2. Bind and pay directly - Complete binding and payment through the carrier portal
  3. Upload bound policy - After binding, upload the policy to Mulligan for analysis
  4. Generate proposals - Use the Policy Comparison tools to create client proposals
